PM to open Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre tomorrow

The much-awaited Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre, dedicated to exhibit products to attract the buyers, is set to open for expositions from Thursday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially inaugurate the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre through a video conference while commerce minister Tipu Munshi will preside over the inaugural ceremony, Ministry of Commerce informs The Business Post.

The Export Promotion Bureau is going to organise the 26th Dhaka International Trade Fair at the centre located at Purbachal on the outskirts of the capital. The EPB has received the nod from the Commerce Ministry to hold the exposition.

“The Commerce Ministry is planning to organise the next DITF at the beginning of the next year. However, it still depends on the Covid-19 situation. Hopefully, the situation will improve and the fair will be held at the new venue at the beginning of the next year,” said Hafizur Rahman, an additional secretary of the Ministry of Commerce while talking to The Business Post.

The China State Construction Engineering Corporation started the construction work of the centre on October 17, 2017 with a fund of Tk 796 crore and handed over it to the authorities concerned on February 7 this year. The centre features more than 800 stalls on a 20-acre of land.
