Bangladesh Police provides assistance to Pirgonj arson victims

Bangladesh Police on Friday provided financial assistance to the 66 arson attack and violence victim Hindu families in Baro Karimpur Majhipara village of Pirgonj upazila in the district.

Being directed by Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Dr Benazir Ahmed, Superintendent of Police of Rangpur Biplob Kumar Sarkar distributed the cash assistance among the victim families in a function arranged at the village.

Talking to BSS, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirgonj police station Suresh Chandra said each of the 66 affected Hindu families received Taka 25,000 in the function.

“Besides, authorities of two damaged temples received Taka 75,000 each and four Hindu community people Ranjet Chandra, Ramen Chandra, Purnima and Rupali were rewarded with Taka 10,000 each for their bravery during the arson attacks,” the OC added.

Pirgonj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Biroda Rani Roy, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Khairul Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Circle- D) Md Kamruzzaman and others police officials were present at the function.
