PayPal, a popular online payment processor for freelancers, will be launched in Bangladesh in December this year, Salman F. Rahman, the adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on private industry and investment has said.

He made the remark while visiting the Walton factory at Chandra in Gazipur on Saturday.

"The way Walton is marching forward, I strongly believe that in upcoming days the electronics sector will overtake the readymade garment sector in export earnings," he also added.

During the visit, he toured different Walton's units, including refrigerator manufacturing, metal castings, compressors, refrigerators, air conditioners, LED televisions, computer laptops, mobile phones, and home appliances.

He further said, "When Walton says its products are made in Bangladesh which means the company manufactures every spare parts on their own. Walton’s contribution to this sector will help to achieve the target of becoming a developed country within 2041."

Walton MD and CEO Golam Murshed said, "Walton's products are being exported to more than 40 countries around the world. It holds 75 per cent of the country's refrigerator market, 50 per cent of AC, and 40 per cent of the TV market. This means consumers have confidence and trust in Walton products."
