ULAB GED hosts orientation for freshers

The Department of General Education at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh organized an online meet and greet for the freshers of the Fall 2021 term on Thursday.

The theme of the programme was Liberal Arts Essential to Quality Education, said a press release on Sunday.

The teachers welcomed the newly admitted students to the department and highlighted the significance of studying liberal arts.

Addressing the function, Professor Salimullah Khan, director of the ULAB’s Center for Advanced Theory, focused on the importance of liberal arts education and said General Education Department plays a key role in the goal of the university. He also added that ULAB is pioneering Liberal Arts Education in the country.

Professor Jude William Genilo, dean of School of Social Science and director of ULAB’s IQAC Cell, discussed the importance of bodies of knowledge in the learning process and the importance of General education courses.

Professor M Mofazzal Hossain, dean of School of Science and Engineering, and Professor Syed Akhter Hossain, head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, also highlighted the need for free thinking for building a sustainable tomorrow.

Arifa Ghani Rahman, head, School of Arts and Humanities, stressed that a liberal arts education prepares students to examine ideas from multiple points of view, solve problems, adapt, and collaborate.
