Bangladesh take 44 runs lead as Pakistan were all out for 286 runs in their first innings in the first Test of the two-match series, taking place at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday.

Pakistan started the day with an overnight score of 145 runs without loss but like the ongoing trend of the Chattogram Test, the morning session became a minefield for the batsmen.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam gave Bangladesh their much-needed breakthrough in the very first over of day three.

Abdullah Shafique was the first to go. He tried to play the ball through the square by making a room, went in backfoot but the ball hit him in the pad first.

Field Umpire signalled out for Leg Before Wicket, Shafique who was on 52 discussed with his partner Abid Ali and did not call for a review and walked back to the dressing room.

Azhar Ali was the next man in, he was also struck on the backfoot but this time the field Umpire denied.

Mominul Haque went upstairs for a review,  DRS showed the ball pitched in line and hitting the stumps, so Azhar had to go for a duck.

A double strike from Taijul brought Bangaladesh back in the game, soon Mehidy Hasan Miraz removed in-form Babar Azam and before the lunch break, Taijul removed Fawad Alam as a result of a fine catch by Liton Das.

Ebadot Hossain often struggle to pick wickets in his brief Test career which reflects on his high bowling average, but also played a crucial part by picking the wickets of Mohammad Rizwan and Sajid Khan.

Ebadot trapped Rizwan plumb in front of wickets for LBW and knocked off the stumps of Sajid.

Taijul was in sublime form, from the first over of the morning to the end of Pakistan's innings on day three, he showed shrewd bowling against an opposition who are well known for handling spin bowling.

He was accurate, used his arm ball and faster deliveries to trap the batsman in front of a wicket or tried to take the edge of the bat.

Taijul got his ninth five-wicket-haul by dismissing Hasan Ali, who came down the wicket for a six but missed the ball; Liton did not mistake to dislodge the stumps.

He ended up taking seven wickets for 116 runs, his second-best in Test cricket.
