Tigresses to return via Oman

Bangladesh women’s national cricket team will return home from Zimbabwe via Oman after the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup qualifiers were cancelled due to the breakout of a new COVID-19 variant in southern Africa.

This cancellation ensured Bangladesh’s qualification in the global event next year as they were the eighth-ranked side in the ICC ODI rankings.

As travel restrictions from several African countries, including the host country Zimbabwe, are being introduced, teams left Harare in chartered flights arranged by the International Cricket Council. As the teams are in Zimbabwe playing an ICC event, ICC is facilitating their departure. The teams will be flown to Oman from Zimbabwe and from there on, they will leave for their destinations.

In-charge of the Bangladesh women’s national team, Towhid Mahmood confirmed that they have left Zimbabwe in a chartered flight on Sunday to The Business Post.

“We have left Zimbabwe for Oman today (Sunday) in an ICC chartered flight. After reaching Oman, we will head to Dhaka depending on the available flights,” he told TBP.
