Stocks plunge

Dhaka stocks fell sharply on Wednesday as investors reacted negatively to the meeting on capital market held in the previous day.

At the day’s trading, the benchmark DSEX index dropped 96.85 points or 1.37 per cent to 6,952. Shariah-based DSES index decreased 13 points or 0.87 per cent to 1,467 while the blue-chip index DS30 also declined 39.25 points or 1.47 per cent to 2,621.

Of the issues traded, 97 advanced, 257 declined and 20 remained unchanged.
