30 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Monday, taking the death toll to 3,184.

Besides, 1,356 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 242,102 confirmed cases in total.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Monday afternoon.

Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 4,238 samples were collected and 4,249 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,193,544 samples have been tested in the country.

With 1,066 new recoveries, a total of 137,905 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.

The deceased, of whom 25 were males and five females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 31-40 years, three between 41-50, four between 51-60 years, 14 between 61-70, five were between 71-80, one between 81-90 and one was between 91-100 years of age.

Under division-wise categorisation, 15 hailed from the Dhaka division, five from Chattogram, four from Khulna, three from Rajshahi and one each from Mymensing, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.

27 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals and three died at home.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 688,351 as of Monday morning, according to the data provided by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, 18,017,556 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 6,097,993 infected patients, 6,032,239 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 65,754 (of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.

So far, 10,649,111 people have recovered.
