Fake Covid-19 reports: Court allows DB to deposit Tk4.23 lakh to BB

A Dhaka Court allowed the Detective Branch (DB) of police to deposit Tk 4.23 lakh to Bangladesh Bank that was seized from an employee of JKG Health Care in connection with a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates to patients.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansary passed the order on Monday after Md Liakot Ali, an inspector of the DB and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a petition in this regard.

On July 20 this year, detectives raided a house of accused Jebunnesa Rina at the Tarabagh area in Khilgaon, Dhaka and recovered Tk 4,23,500.

Earlier, in the same case, JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury, her husband Ariful Chowdhury, the chief executive officer of the organisation, and one of their associates Sayeed Chowdhury were sent to jail.
