Mitsubishi Power, a major subsidiary of the Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group, officially changed its corporate name as-‘Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems’ on Tuesday, said a press release.
The re-brand marks the start of new chapter in the company’s mission to solve the foremost energy challenges of present time, including de-carbonizing energy and providing reliable power to people all over the world.
With its new brand identity, which was developed after consultation with the key customers, employees and partners, Mitsubishi Power moved forward in its ambition to become a leading energy solutions company with a broad spectrum of businesses in grid-level power generation, renewable, energy storage and digital technologies.
Following the re-brand, Mitsubishi Power has become a wholly owned subsidiary of MHI Group. Its enhanced position within the Group will enable it to establish greater synergies with its sister companies and expand its business by tapping new customer categories.
Mitsubishi Power will capitalize on existing investments in emerging energy solutions, such as hydrogen, ammonia and solar power, to address the diverse and increasingly complex energy needs of customers around the world.
Ken Kawai, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Power, Ltd, said “Providing people access to clean, stable, and affordable power is among global society’s most urgent mandates today. With our new identity, Mitsubishi Power will exceptionally lead to solve such challenges”.
In addition to the new name and logo, Mitsubishi Power also unveiled a new mission statement and announced that it will adopt the MHI Group tagline “Move the World Forward”.
In another statement, the Mitsubishi said Osamu Ono has been appointed as the Managing Director and CEO of the Asia Pacific region for Mitsubishi Power, Ltd., a major wholly owned subsidiary within the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Group.
Ono assumed the position on April 1, 2020 at Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. (MHPS-AP), and he continues to helm the regional business after the company’s re-brand to Mitsubishi Power on September 1.
Based at the regional headquarters in Singapore, Ono oversees planning and execution of the company’s business growth strategies across key markets such as Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Working closely with a team of 2,000 people, he is committed to delivering solutions, enabling energy security, and continued economic development for countries in the region as they transition to cleaner power systems, it said.
