No pry exams this year if schools remain closed until Nov

In the latest move, the government has decided not to hold examinations for primary students this year if schools cannot be reopened by November, amid risks of the coronavirus pandemic.

The students, however, will have to sit for evaluation tests if schools can be opened in the next two months.

Primary and Mass Education Senior Secretary Akram-Al-Hossain made the disclosure in a press briefing held at the secretariat on Sunday marking International Literacy Day.

“Primary examinations will not take place if the schools cannot be opened,” he said.

Two types of plans for evaluation tests are being considered: one if it is possible to open the schools in October and the other if the reopening trails to November, he said, adding that the authorities are very careful about the safety of children.

All educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 17 to curb risks of the spread of novel coronavirus.
