Sushant Singh Rajput death: NCB arrests Rhea Chakraborty

Actor Rhea Chakraborty was arrested in Mumbai today by the Narcotics Control Bureau after three days of questioning in connection with drugs-related allegations in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.

The anti-drugs agency will not seek her custody during an online court hearing later today, say sources; the agency says it has the evidence and information it needs. The court will decide whether to grant her bail.

Sources say Rhea Chakraborty, who dated Sushant Singh Rajput in his final months, admitted to organising drugs for the Bollywood star and also using them at times, during hours of questioning.

Wearing black with a "smash the patriarchy" message across her tee, Rhea Chakraborty waved at the cameras as she stepped into a police van to be taken for a medical examination. Many among the reporters had mobbed her and hounded her when she arrived for questioning the first time on Sunday.

The 28-year-old actor, named as an accused in the CBI investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput's death on June 14, had denied using drugs in TV interviews. According to sources, she broke down when confronted with her brother Showik Chakraborty, who was arrested last week.

The Narcotics Control Bureau started its inquiries based on WhatsApp chats retrieved from Rhea Chakraborty's phone, which revealed alleged conversations around procuring drugs.

Sources said on her second day of questioning yesterday, Rhea Chakraborty made an emotional declaration according to sources, telling the Narcotics Control Bureau - "Whatever I did, I did for Sushant". Sources said the actor had then denied using drugs but had been evasive on certain questions.
