Veteran actor Khondoker Shahid Uddin Firoz, better known as KS Firoz, died Wednesday morning at the age of 76 at a hospital in Dhaka.

He breathed his last at 6:20am while on ventilation support the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital.

Television drama director Chayanika Chowdhury confirmed the matter, saying he was suffering from fever and breathing difficulties for the last few days.

"KS Firoz was admitted to the CMH yesterday (Tuesday) as his condition deteriorated due to the fever. Doctors said he was suffering from pneumonia," she said.

The noted actor is survived by his wife, three daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Firoz stepped into acting through joining theatre troupe ‘Theatre’. He appeared in plays such as ‘Shat Ghater Kanakori’, ‘King Lear’ and ‘Rakkhoshi’.

The actor made his small screen debut by appearing against Doly Ibrahim in TV drama ‘Dip Tobuo Jwale’.

Born in Barishal in 1967, Firoz made his big screen debut by appearing in ‘Lawarish’.

He starred in a number of films including ‘Shankhanad’, ‘Banshi’, ‘Chandragrahan’ and ‘Brihonnola’.
