Sadek Bachchu succumbs to Covid-19

Veteran Dhallywood actor Sadek Bachchu died of novel coronavirus while undergoing treatment at a city hospital. He was 65.

He breathed his last at 12:05pm Monday at the intensive care unit (ICU) dedicated for Covid-19 treatment in Universal Medical College Hospital in Mohakhali.

The hospital’s managing director Dr Ashish Kumar Chakraborty confirmed the news to the media.

Sadek Bachchu was earlier admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with breathing difficulties on September 8. The result of his Covid-19 test came out positive later.

On Saturday night, he was placed on life support as his health condition deteriorated to a critical state due to the coronavirus infection, Shilpi Samiti general secretary, actor Zayed Khan told media.

Physicians said 80 per cent of the actor’s heart wasn’t working.

Sadek Bachchu’s career in acting stretches over five decades in the theatre, radio, television, and cinema.

He appeared in a large number of hit films including ‘Jibon Nodir Tir-e’, ‘Tomar Majhe Aami’, ‘Dhaka to Bombay’, ‘Ananda Ashru’, ‘Jor Kore Valobasa Hoy Na’, ‘Amar Praner Swami’.
