Introducing Swayong

Swayong is an online platform that aims at dismantling social injustices through storytelling. It wants to create safe, inclusive, and constructive spaces for conversation and growth of women with an aim to encourage people to interact meaningfully.

The founder of Swayong Swatil Binte Mahmud says, "When I look at Swayong and see how women have started sharing their own unheard and untold stories with us, it makes me think of thousands of other stories that need to be told!"

"When Swayong became the runner up for the Digital Khichuri Challenge COVID-19 Edition in the Ideation level in August 2020, my sister and I knew from the beginning whose stories we will be telling through স্বয়ং – Swayong. We decided to address the gender-based issues that female frontline warriors like healthcare workers, hospital staff, aid workers, and journalists have been facing during the dreadful pandemic," the founder added.

Swayong believes that telling stories is one of the most powerful means to influence, teach, and inspire others. Storytelling forges connections among people, and between people and ideas.

Swayong thinks being a woman is not easy, being a woman frontline worker in the middle of a pandemic is even more challenging.
