The Technical and Madrasah Education Division of the Ministry of Education on Thursday shut down the Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam Madrasa, popularly known as 'Hathazari Madrasha' in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram until further notice.

The decision came after agitated students vandalised the office of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Amir Shah Ahmed Shafi this morning.

The students began their protest on Wednesday demanding the removal of Hefazat-e-Islam Chief Ahmad Shafi's son Anas Madani from the institution.

The notice regarding the closure of the madrasha was signed by Sayed Asgar Ali, assistant secretary (madrasa-2), saying that the madrasa will remain closed until further notice as it did not follow the conditions given before being allowed to reopen on August 24.
