The High Court will deliver verdict on September 24 on a revision appeal challenging police for arresting three people and taking their confessional statements in a case filed over the alleged murder of a schoolgirl who later returned home alive in Narayanganj.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman on Thursday set the date after concluding hearing arguments on the petition.

Shamim Al Mamun, the then investigation officer (IO) of the case, and also sub-inspector (SI) of Narayanganj Sadar Police Station, and SI Mostafizur Rahman, the current IO of the case, appeared before the bench with case records.

On August 27, the HC summoned the officers to appear before the court with records of the case.

The schoolgirl went missing on July 4 and her father filed a case over the matter on July 17. Later, police arrested Abdullah, 22, and his friend Rakib, 19, after the victim's father filed an abduction case on August 6 accusing them.

Two days later Khalil, 36, a boatman of Bandar upazila was arrested in the case.

On August 9, police said the trio confessed to their crimes.

On August 23, the victim was found unharmed in Nabiganj area of Bandar. She said she had fled with her boyfriend and was staying with her lover.
