Gold prices shoot again

Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (BAJUS) has announced an increase in prices of all types of gold by 2,450 taka per bhori as prices went up in the international market amid the coronavirus pandemic and other global financial issues.

The decision of the price hike was made public in a press release issued Thursday signed by Dilip Kumar Agarwala, general secretary of BAJUS.

The new rates will come into effect from today (Friday).

Under the increased rates, 22-carat gold will be sold at 76,458 taka per bhori, 21-carat gold at 73,308 taka, and 18-carat gold will be sold at 64,560 taka per bhori in the local market.

Besides, the price for the traditional method gold has been fixed at 54,238 taka.

However, the price of the 21-carat cadmium silver remains the same, at 933 taka per bhori.

According to BAJUS, the price of gold has increased in the country’s bullion market due to the economic crisis because of the coronavirus pandemic, the ongoing US-China trade war and the recent US dollar decline.
