The namaj-e-janaza of Hefajat-e Islam amir Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi will be held after Zohr prayers Saturday at Darul Ulum Muinul Islam Madrassah, popularly known as Hathazari Madrasa, in Hathazari of Chattogram.

Later, he will be laid to eternal rest at Maqbara-E-Habibiya graveyard of the madrasa.

Moulana Anas Madani, son of Allama Shafi, disclosed it to the media after his father died at Asgar Ali Hospital in Dhaka's Gendaria on Friday.

He said that his father advocated for a single janaza throughout his life in accordance with the Quran and Hadith. "So, only one janaza of my father will be held. According to his last wishes, my father will be buried at Hathazari Madrasa graveyard."

Following the announcement, hundreds of alems, ulemas and madrasa students flocked to Asgar Ali Hospital premises hoping to catch a last glimpse of Allama Shafi's face. They also demanded a funeral of the Hefazat chief's in Dhaka.

Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, breathed his last around 6:30pm while undergoing treatment at Asgar Ali Hospital. He was flown to Dhaka from Chattogram by a helicopter in the afternoon after his condition deteriorated.
