Cyber drill to prepare financial sector against cyber attacks Thurs

As part of multifaceted effort towards enhancing cyber security in the country's financial sector, a day-long workshop has been organized on Thursday. The workshop titled 'Cyber Drill 2020' will provide special training on ensuring cyber security in financial transactions in the country's financial institutions. The country's top cyber experts will be present at the workshop as trainers.

The workshop is organized by Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) under Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC). Officials and interested persons engaged in cyber security work in Bangladesh Bank and all commercial banks will take part in it.

The workshop aims to create awareness among the concerned officials and customers of banks and financial institutions about cyber security.

This is the first time such a drill is going to be held in the country. Registration for the workshop was open from October 15 to 19. Only the registered intuitions and persons will be able to take part in it.

Further drills will be organized for other sectors later.

At present, the government is working to enhance its quick response abilities against cyberattacks. Every commercial bank including Bangladesh has special cyber response team.

These teams monitor online business of the banks round the clock. Initiatives have been taken to strengthen these teams. At the same time, if any cyberattack occurs, it has been asked to immediately inform the central CIRT.

Under the Digital Bangladesh Building, digital infrastructure is being developed in accordance with the Bangladesh National Digital Architecture (BNDA) model developed by the government. Under this, the entire financial sector will be digitized. For this cyber security will also be increased. These steps have been taken as part of it.
