HC pronounces judgment in Bangla in respect of language martyrs

The High Court on Wednesday pronounced judgment in a case in Bangla for paying homage to the people who sacrificed their lives in the language movement.

A High Court division bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Md Khairul Alam pronounced the judgment in Bangla in the case "Md Akkas Ali vs Bangladesh and others".

Before pronouncing the judgment in the case regarding the vested property, Justice Naima Haider said, "Today is February 1, the first day of the month of language.

"We are going to pronounce the judgment in Bangla out of respect for the language martyrs and mark International Mother Language Day. We are going to pronounce this judgment out of respect for all the Bangla-speaking people of the world."

The case was the 12th matter on the cause list of the bench. Advocate Md Shariful Islam appeared for the writ filed in this case, while Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta stood for the state.
