The government has appointed veteran television actress-director Afsana Mimi as director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on a contractual basis for three years.
Shilpakala Academy’s public relations officer Hasan Mahmud confirmed the news to The Business Post on Saturday.
The government confirmed her appointment in a gazette notification issued on November 11.
Besides Mimi, Syeda Mahbuba Karim also has been appointed as a director of the Shilpakala Academy.
Afsana Mimi, also a theatre personality, shot to fame through appearing in writer-filmmaker Humayun Ahmed’s popular TV play ‘Kothao Keu Nei’ in 1990.
She started directing TV plays in 2000.
