Around 88 per cent customersare satisfied with the services in power sector, reveals a survey conducted by state-owned Infrastructure Investment Facilitation Company.
The survey, conducted on a total number of 1,400 customers, shows that 94 per cent of consumers are happy with the services they receive in getting power connection and 77 per cent said they were happy receiving services after filing complaints.
Besides, 95 per cent customers were happy with billing services and 88 per cent with metering. As many as 88 per cent said they were happy with the overall services in the sector.
IIFC on Saturday released the findings during a virtual programmeon Consumer’s Satisfaction Survey on four criteria. The criteria are—power connection, service against complains, billing and metering in the power sector.
Out of the total 1,400 samples, 700 weretaken from SadarUpazila of Narayanganj and 700 from BurichangUpazila of Cumilla district. Of the samples, 71 per cent were residential users while the rest were commercial and other users.
Of the samples, 39 per cent users received services from the Dhaka Power distribution Company, 39 per cent from Rural Electrification Board and 22 per cent from Bangladesh Power Development Board.
The survey also found that 52 per cent of clients relied on middle-men for getting power connections.
Presiding over the programme, State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid said the government will continueefforts to keep consumers hundred per cent happy. He said that the government does not want to receive any complaint regarding power sector and emphasizes on communication with customers. Power distribution companies should maintain regular communications with consumers, he added.
“I want 100 per cent consumer satisfaction although the survey shows that 88 per cent are currently happy with services. Client service will improve as soon as the service goes online and digital. We need to find-out why 52 per cent of clients still rely on middle-man for connections,” he said.
The virtual programme was also addressed by power division secretary Habibur Rahman, BPDB chairman Belayet Hossain, REB chairman Major General (Retd) Moin Uddin and managing director of Power Cell Mohammad Hossain.
