BPC counts Tk 80cr loss daily: Nasrul

Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) is incurring a loss of around Tk 80 crore per day due to the hike of fuel price globally.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid disclosed the matter at ‘Meet the Press’ event organised by Forum for Energy Reporters Bangladesh (FERB) and North-West Power Generation Company at Bidhyut Bhaban in Dhaka on Monday.

“Even in the current context, the government has no plan to hike the fuel price in the domestic market, rather it will tackle the crisis by giving more subsidies,” he said.

The remarks of the state minister come amid the growing fuel price hike on the international market due to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Nasrul said the war is yet to affect the ongoing works on Gazprom EP International BV and Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

However, he said, if the war continues, there could be a crisis.
