Power supply was restored to 93 per cent of consumers of the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) while it was 87 per cent for consumers of West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (WZPDC) till 6pm on Wednesday.
According to a press release from the Power Division, some 30.3 million consumers of the BREB were affected by Cyclone Remal on Monday and got disconnected from the electricity supply network, reports UNB.
The BREB has restored the electricity supply to 28.2 million consumers, which is 93 per cent.
The WZPDC has restored electricity supply to 0.282 million of its consumers during the same period, which is 87 per cent of its total affected consumers of 0.453 million who were without electricity due to the cyclone.
The Power Division said that about 25,000 workforces from BREB are currently working at the field level, while the WZPDC has also engaged its manpower to repair damaged power lines.
