The government has fixed different weekly holidays for industrial zones across the country to tackle the ongoing energy crisis.

Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment issued a circular in this regard.

Earlier on Sunday, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that the government has decided to follow a method of the area-based shutdown of factories on different days of the week to solve the ongoing power crisis.

“With the initiative, we hope to save at least 490MW of electricity.”

The government started enforcement of daily one-hour area-based load-shedding across Bangladesh on July 19 to tackle the ongoing energy crisis.

However, it has been alleged that there is discriminatory enforcement of power rationing between the capital and other parts of the country.
