The government will procure 33.60 lakh MMBtu LNG (liquefied natural gas) and 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertiliser to meet the growing demand of the country.
The approvals came from the 13th meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) this year held on Tuesday with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.
Petrobangla would procure 33.60 lakh MMBtu LNG from Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd Switzerland with Tk 624.40 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.84, read a press release of the finance ministry.
It added that following a proposal from the agriculture ministry, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertiliser from MA'ADEN, Saudi Arabia under the first lot of a state-level agreement with around Tk 257.94 crore.
Besides, the CCGP meeting approved a proposal from the ICT Division for procuring the services of imparting training to some 36,020 teachers on operating "Sheikh Russel Digital Lab" with around Tk 77.06 crore.
