Integrated planning must for power sector infrastructure development

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said on Tuesday that there must be integrated planning for power sector infrastructure development.

“Many achievements can be foiled due to the lack of coordination,” he said while addressing a workshop at Bidyut Bhaban as chief guest. Huawei and the Power Cell of the ministry jointly organised the workshop titled “Together for a Smart & Green Bangladesh”.

Two separate context papers on Smart Grid, Electric Vehicles and Global Context were presented to the workshop.  Besides, Smart Grid, Cyber Attack Prevention Systems, Digitisation, Automation as well as technology-based clean energy and electric vehicles were also discussed.

The state minister also said that grid automation is a time-befitting demand as it will adjust the demand and supply of electricity automatically.

“Connection between information technology and smart devices will ensure the safety of the power transmission management,” he said.

Nasrul Hamid said it is necessary to make related manpower efficiency along with technology for transforming power systems from conventional grid to smart grid.

He said the electric vehicles are eco-friendly and cost-effective, said adding, “Bangladesh has already prepared the policy related to charging guidelines.”

Power Secretary Md Habibur Rahman and Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) CEO Pan Junfeng also spoke at the workshop.
