Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan has said there is no risk of blackouts in the country now although some people are trying to create trouble in the power sector.

"No one will be allowed to create any blackout situation...If any one does not want to discharge his duty, alternative manpower is ready to take over the charge," he said while addressing a seminar in the city on Sunday.

The remarks from the energy adviser came against the backdrop of the movement by a section of staff of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) to realise various demands. He said the government is working to ensure the safety of power substations.

He said the current government may not get much time to reform the energy and power sector. "But if anyone plans sabotage, it will be strictly dealt with. What the employees of Palli Bidyut Samity have done is unacceptable," he said.

The adviser said the reasonable demands of Palli Bidyut Samity have been accepted. "A decision will be taken considering the demands raised by temporary workers to make them permanent. No sudden announcement can be made," he added.

Fouzul Kabir said nobody should think that this government is a weak one. "This government is not weak, it is stronger than many governments."

"If someone from Palli Bidyut Samity leaves without doing their duties, they should leave at once," he said.
