Rosatom Engineering Division has delivered reactor vessel and four steam generators for Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
It said heavy equipment of the reactor compartment of Unit 2 was manufactured at Atommash plant in Volgodonsk branch of AEM-Technology.
The equipment was transported to a special berth of Tsimlyansk water reservoir in Volgodonsk, loaded on barges and shipped to Novorossiysk.
The length of the sea route of the equipment that was shipped on the Anna vessel from Novorossiysk to Bangladesh port of Mongla-via the Black Sea and the Suez Canal-was about 14,000 km.
The manufacturing of the VVER-1200 reactor vessel lasted for over two years. All the operations were performed with the participation of representatives of the customer’s authorized organization, BAEC and BAERA supervisory authority, the message said.
Last October, the reactor vessel and the steam generators for Rooppur NPP Unit 1 were delivered to Bangladesh.
It is planned that the reactor vessel of power unit No. 1 will be installed into the design position in September 2021.
The nuclear power plant will consist of two VVER-1200 reactor power units and their life cycle is expected to be 60 years with a possible extension of the service life for another 20 years.
The Russian design with VVER-1200 reactors that had been successfully implemented at Novovoronezh NPP- 2 was selected for the first NPP in Bangladesh.
This is an evolutionary GenIII+ design which fully complies with all international safety requirements.
