Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) raised objections about the Eid special drama ‘The Teacher’ directed by Mabrur Rashid Bannah, alleging that the word ‘Agriculture’ was used abusively in one of the dialogues which hurt the feelings of the farming community.
‘The Teacher’ was aired on NTV on July 25. The drama was released on the television channel’s YouTube channel on the same day.
KIB, in a press release issued Thursday, said that the agriculture sector, agriculturalists and the farming community of the country have been humiliated in the drama ‘The Teacher’ by using the word ‘Agriculture’ mockingly.
Condemning the drama, Krishibid Institution asked for immediate removal of the content and called for a public apology from the cast and crew of it.
Written and directed by Mabrur Rashid Bannah, ‘The Teacher’ stars Abdun Noor Shajal, food blogger Iftekhar Rafsan and Anamika Oyeshi among others.
However, the scene sparking objection was withdrawn from the drama Wednesday night, Bannah confirmed The Business Post yesterday.
Stating that the dialogue was used ‘inadvertently’, Bannah said that he deeply regrets the mistake. “The corrections were made soon after it was noticed,” he added.
