Habib picks fans’ lyrics for a monsoon track with Nancy

Six of the lucky fans have got their lyrics selected by singer-composer Habib Wahid for a deeply romantic rain song in the voice of him and singer Nazmun Munira Nancy.

Titled ‘Brishti Jodi Ar Na Thame Aj’, the song is now available on Habib Wahid’s official YouTube channel.

Habib Wahid posted the first line of the song on his Facebook handle on July 5 and asked his fans to pen down the rest. Of the overwhelming number of submissions dropped in the threads, the lyrics of six participants were selected by the singer to make it a fully fan-written song, in what said to be the first of its kind in virtual space here.

The selected respondents are-- Mukul Chandra Roy, Sufian Khan, Shahadt Hossain, Jahid Hasan, Ebriad Hasan Polock and Catherine Alo Mardi.Habib Wahid told The Business Post: “The idea came from being tied down indoors due to lockdown, the one right before Eid-ul-Azha, (and I) thought of using all our creative energies.”

“It’s a creation suggesting we can all use our creative energies and make something even if we can’t go out physically,” added the singer as the country is still under stay-at-home order to reduce risks of coronavirus transmission by ensuring social-distancing rules.

Talking about the project, he said: “This actually changed my perception to a certain extent on how have been getting songs written traditionally.” “This whole experience gave me even bigger hopes to create more magic involving people like this in the future.”

“Making it a monsoon track was a spontaneous idea as it was raining when the first like came to me in the post. He shared. “Hope the monsoon continues a few more days after it’s out!” added the singer.
