Bangladesh Television plans to run month-long special programmes honouring the teachings and life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation’s memory throughout the month of August.
The programmes will be aired from August 1 to August 31. BTV will also broadcast special programmes on the birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib on August 6 and National Mourning Day on August 15, the state-run TV channel said in a press release issued Saturday.
‘Kado Bangali Kado’ and ‘Hironmoy Bangabandhu’ will be broadcast every day on August 1-14 at 10:10am and 1:30pm. Besides, a children’s show will air every day on August 13-15 at 5:10pm.
From the 1st to the 31st of August, at 5:35 pm, a special programme titled ‘Bajra kantha’ on Bangabandhu’s speech will air.
A special program titled ‘August 15, 1975 - Why this atrocity?’ will air on August 11-15 at 10:00pm. In addition, during the month of August, a special folk music program will air every Monday after the 10:00am news.
On August 7, the television channel will air a special documentary and discussion program commemorating the birth anniversary of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib.
There will be two musical shows on August 15 to commemorate the National Mourning Day. BTV will also broadcast two recitation events and a documentary programme. Written by Iqbal Khorshed and directed by Imam Hossain, a special mourning day play titled ‘Ten Coffins and Ifran’s Story’ will also be broadcast.
