Mithila reveals her first look in ‘Maya’

The first look of popular Bangladeshi actress Rafiath Rashid Mithila-starrer upcoming film ‘Maya’ was revealed on Thursday. Mithila is all set to make her Tollywood debut with this film.

Directed by Indian filmmaker Raajorshee De, ‘Maya’ will feature Mithila in the role of the alter ego Lady Macbeth from William Shakespeare’s popular tragedy ‘Macbeth’, in the adaptation. Rajorshi Dey, who earlier directed the Bengali spiritual thriller ‘Purba Paschim Dakshin,’ has given Lady Macbeth a feminist twist in ‘Maya’.

The story of this film begins in 1969 in the city of Calcutta. ‘Maya’ will tell the story of how a minority woman fights back after being raped and inspires other women to break the shackles of the ongoing patriarchy.

Maya is considered to be a mixture between the Wayward sisters and Lady Macbeth in the play. The film takes a feminist approach to the classic play, concentrating on Lady Macbeth’s point of view this time.

In the first look Mithila is seen to be very different from her usual look. Head full of tangles, pistol in her hand and a lost yet powerful gaze depicts that this character that Mithila is playing will be very unique and intriguing.

The filming began on July 12 in a Rajbari in Bali, Howrah, and was subsequently completed in Kolkata. The shooting finished up on July 28th, after a seventeen-day tight schedule. The release date has yet to be announced.
