The production behind Michael Jordan’s blockbuster docuseries ‘The Last Dance’ is now taking its hit to space. Netflix announced on Tuesday that it would release a five-part series on the mission in September, marking the ‘Inspiration4’ company’s first documentary to capture an event ‘in near real-time’, reports Variety.

‘Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space’ is produced by Schell (through his Words & Pictures shingle), Hehir, and their ‘The Last Dance’ team, as well as Time Studios and marketing firm Known. The series begins with the selection of the four crew members, which is followed by commercial astronaut training and, finally, liftoff. The last episode will air shortly after the operation is completed. They will also feature footage inside the spacecraft of their journey and return to Earth.

The Netflix series will likely be the cherry on top of the massive media event that will be Inspiration4. The Netflix series will be directed by Jason Hehir, who previously headed “The Last Dance,” an ESPN documentary miniseries about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

The first two episodes of “Countdown: Inspiration4 Mission to Space” premiere September 6, followed by episodes 3 and 4 on September 13. Inspiration4 is scheduled to launch on September 15; the final episode will air at the end of the month.
