Director Rashid Polash’s second film titled ‘Poddapuran’, based on the lives of a group of people living along the Padma river, has finally received censor certificate.

Confirming the news, Palash said in a press release issued Saturday that his team worked very hard to complete the project. “All credit goes to the team,” he said.

‘Poddapuran’ will be released on a better day as soon as the ongoing Covid-19 situation returns to normal, added the director.

‘Poddapuran’ stars Shampa Reza, Prosun Azad, Sadia Mahi, Sumit Sengupta, Kayes Chowdhury, Joyraj, Hedayet Nannu, Suchana Shikder, Reshmi and Sadia Tanjin in various roles.

Produced by Punno Films, the screenplay of the film is written by Rayhan Shoshi. Its music is directed by Jahid Nirob.

Storyline of the film revolves around a low-income community living on the bank of Padma river. Already hit by poverty, most of them also get addicted to drugs. One of the female inhabitants named ‘Runa’ involved herself in drug dealing and criminal acitivities.

However, marking his first-ever directorial with ‘Naior’, Rashid Polash is currently working on his upcoming film ‘Pritilata’ based on the life of Pritilata Waddedar, the first Bengali female revolutionary nationalist who had fought against the oppressive British rule in 1932.

Earlier, in March, the first song of the ‘Poddapuran’ was released on Live Tech’s YouTube channel. The song titled ‘Nona’ is sung by Arif with lyrics, tune and music done by Bibek Mazumder.
