Simon’s ‘Neel Mukut’ now on Chorki

Director Kamar Ahmad Simon’s new film ‘Neel Mukut’ is now available to watch online. The film saw its release yesterday on the newly launched streaming platform Chorki.

Earlier, the film was scheduled to release on March 27, 2020. However, the film was indefinitely postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic disrupted Simon’s plans after cinema halls were closed amid the lockdown. As a result, he has come up with the idea of digital release.

Regarding the story of ‘Neel Mukut’, Simon said: “If blue (Neel) is the colour of sadness and crown (Mukut) is symbol of power, then this film will give a different vibe to the audience.”

The director earlier shared his backstory of writing the script for ‘Neelmukut’. He said that during a flight to Europe, he heard a woman crying while talking to her child and husband. Simon kept thinking about the melancholic voice of the woman during the whole flight, and he eventually started writing the script in an attempt to capture the moment.

The suspense of the plot and the backstory already have aroused curiosity among the audience.

Simon also flew to Haiti to make the film. The 85 per cent of the film was shot in the Caribbean country.

Meanwhile, the poster of ‘Neelmukut’ was also applauded by the audience and other artistes.

Simon’s debut film ‘Shunte Ki Pao’ (Are You Listening?) bagged the National Film Award and several international awards, including Du Reel’s Grand Prix and the Golden Conch at the Mumbai International Film Festival.
