Selim gears up for web film ‘Gunnin’

As the coronavirus-induced lockdown has been relaxed from today, acclaimed filmmaker Giasuddin Selim is all set to start shooting for a Chorki Original web film soon.

Selim revealed the ensemble of cast for the project while talking to The Business Post on Tuesday.

Titled ‘Gunnin’, the web film stars Salauddin Lavlu, Iresh Zaker, Sariful Razz, Mostofa Monwar and Shilpi Sarker, among others.

Currently, Selim is also awaiting release of his multicast film ‘Paap Punno’ which is delayed by the ongoing pandemic. The director was earlier scheduled to release the film in October last year and afterwards by mid-2021 which was postponed due to the situation caused by the pandemic.

Selim also had a plan to run promotional campaign for a few months ahead of ‘Paap Punno’s release which also faced cancellation amid the nationwide lockdown.

Starring Chanchal Chowdhury, Siam Ahmed, Mamunur Rashid, Afsana Mimi, Farzana Chumki, Shahnaz Sumi, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Gousul Alam Shaon and Monir Khan Shimul, ‘Paap Punno’ was granted an uncut censor certificate from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board.

However, Selim has declined to follow some other filmmakers to release the much-anticipated film on over-the-top platform. He said that he will be waiting until the virus situation improves and cinema halls are opened to make it to the big-screen.

Marking Selim’s third big-screen project, ‘Paap Punno’ was finished in September 2019, before the onset of Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The film is produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd.

Giasuddin Selim made his mark on big-screen with his directorial debut ‘Monpura’ back in 2009 which bagged several awards including the National Film Award under five categories. His second film ‘Swapnjaal’ also received a very positive response from the audience.
