Kristen Stewart’s Princess Diana biopic to release in November

‘Spencer,’ a biographical drama directed by Pablo Larrain and starring Kristen Stewart, will be released in theaters in November, reports Variety. The film, produced by Neon and Topic Studios, will have its world premieres at the Toronto and Venice film festivals.

Originally scheduled to premiere in 2022 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death, ‘Spencer’ will now be released in theaters on November 5, just in time for awards season. On the same day, Marvel’s ‘The Eternals’ from Chloé Zhao and Tom Hanks’ sci-fi film ‘Finch’ will be released too.

Stewart stars as the late Princess Diana (born Diana Frances Spencer) in the movie, written by ‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight.

‘Spencer’ is set over a single weekend as Diana contemplates the end of her marriage to Charles while celebrating the Christmas holiday with the royal family. The official synopsis from Neon and Topic Studios reads: “December, 1991: The Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate.

In the film, Jack Farthing plays Prince Charles, with Timothy Spall, Sean Harris, and Sally Hawkins rounding out the cast.
