‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ official trailer out after leak

The official trailer for Marvel’s highly anticipated ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ has finally been released, following a Sunday night leak on social media, reports Variety.

The official Twitter account for the film poked fun at Sunday’s leak after the trailer’s official release, writing: “Shout-out to the real ones who are watching the trailer for the first time right now.”

Sony Motion Pictures Group CEO Tom Rothman introduced the trailer, with remarks from Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch. The clip sees Peter Parker face his most brutal foe to date — the past. After nearly a year of speculation, the trailer confirms the multiverse plot of ‘No Way Home,’ which will bring Holland together with villains of previous Spider-Man cinematic franchises.

Seeking a supernatural solution, Parker turns to Doctor Strange (Cumberbatch), looking for a spell that will undo the big reveal and set things as they were. Thanks to some trusty teen awkwardness, the magic unleashed plunges Parker and Strange into the multiverse and untold danger.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, starring Tom Holland, will be set in the multiverse and will feature actors from previous Spider-Man film franchises. Alfred Molina, who portrayed Doctor Octopus in Tobey Maguire’s ‘Spider-Man 2’, appears in the trailer, while Jamie Foxx, who played Electro in Andrew Garfield’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, is also on the call-sheet for Marvel’s next Spider-Man film.

Zendaya will return her role as MJ, Jacob Batalon will reprise his role as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei will reprise her role as Aunt May, Benedict Wong will reprise his role as Wong, and Jon Favreau will reprise his role as Happy Hogan. Jon Watts is back to direct the third film in the Holland series.

The film is arguably the most important film on Sony’s slate, with anticipation for the Marvel Studios sequel rivaling something akin to Disney’s Avengers movies, with fans clamoring online for months for word on the project. The previous installment, ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, stands as Sony’s highest-grossing film ever, with it earning $1.132 billion globally.

‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ is set to swing into theatres on December 17.
