Dhallywood actress Mahiya Mahi has joined the cast of director Shaheen Sumon’s upcoming web series ‘Mafia’.
The project marks Mahi’s reunion with Shaheen Sumon who directed her in her first film around ten years ago. Mahi took to her social media handle early Wednesday to express her excitement. “I’m the happiest person in the world,” she wrote.
She will start shooting for the romantic-thriller from today, the director confirmed The Business Post on Wednesday.
Filming on the web series resumed in the capital’s Uttara from Sunday following a break after it was kicked off last year. Based on underworld crimes and love story, the big-budget web series will have 150 episodes.
‘Mafia’ boasts of an impressive star cast including Zahid Hasan, Anisur Rahman Milon, Shamol Mawla, Misha Sawdagar, Mamnun Hasan Emon, Raha Tanha Khan, Mou Khan, Nazia Haque Orsha and Achol Akhe.
The story of ‘Mafia’ is from director Sumon himself. Scripted by Delwar Hossain Dil, the web series is produced by Selim Khan under the banner of Shapla Media International. It will be released on the YouTube channel and app of Shapla Media.
Having made her acting debut with Shaheen Sumon’s ‘Bhalobasar Rong’ back in 2012, Mahi was last seen in ‘Morichika’, the first web series on newly-launched OTT platform Chorki, which was directed by Shihab Shaheen and released in July this year.
Currently, Mahi has several films, including Zakir Hossain Raju’s ‘Artonad’, Shamim Ahmed Roni’s ‘Live’ and ‘Norsunder’, and Shaheen Sumon’s ‘Gangster’ in her hand.
