OTT platform Chorki on Thursday released actor-director Sumon Anwar’s short film ‘Joar Bhata’. The film stars Shamol Mawla and Farhana Hamid Atti in the lead roles.
Earlier, Chorki released the official trailer of ‘Joar Bhata’ on its YouTube channel on Wednesday.
‘Joar Bhata’ is the second part of a philosophical trilogy after ‘Sadarghater Tiger’, according to director Sumon Anwar.
‘Joar Bhata’ is the psychological journey of a woman. The storyline depicts a series of changes in her life take place from her childhood to marriage life. After spending childhood and adolescence at her father’s house, a girl generally goes to her husband’s house following her marriage. She actually doesn’t have a house of her own. But there’s a room is always ready for her, basically a kitchen where she spends a big portion for her life. The story is about such a girl who always needs a shelter.
The 20-min short film was shot in Pubail on the outskirts of the capital amid the coronavirus pandemic last year.
‘Joar Bhata’ has only two characters played by Shamol Mawla and Farhana Hamid Atti, who earlier acted in the first installment of the trilogy titled ‘Sadarghater Tiger’.
Talking to The Business Post on Thursday, Shamol Mawla said, “‘Joar Bhata’ is based on a short story. We had to finish the shoot in a span of two consecutive days.”
“It is a unique story compared to other conventional web contents being made for OTT platforms nowadays. It will show us how the audience accept something different rather than the regular stories,” he added.
In ‘Joar Bhata’, there are two songs in the voice of singer Sumel Chowdhury while the background music is done by singer-composer Khayam Sanu Sandhi.
