Actor Ziaul Roshan has been roped in for the government-financed film ‘Jamdani’. Directed by Anirudho Rasel, and co-starring actress Shiba Ali Khan with Roshan, the film will showcase the traditional art of Jamdani weaving.

Roshan and Shiba signed the film on Tuesday evening.

Roshan took to his social media handle on Tuesday night to share several photos where he was spotted with director Rasel while signing the deal for ‘Jamdani’.

‘Jamdani’ is written by Mostofa Monon while its dialogue and script are from Azad Abul Kalam.

According to director Anirudho Rasel, ‘Jamdani’ is a humanitarian story depicting the life and success of the people involved in Jamdani production. It will be a blend of fact and fiction, he said.

‘Jamdani’, along with 19 other films, received government grants for the fiscal year 2020-21.

Makers of ‘Jamdani’ are scheduled to kick off the shooting from October 10. The film will mostly be shot in the Jamdani Palli of Rupganj in Narayanganj, with some shoots at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and several locations around the capital city.

Roshan is currently awaiting the release of his several films, including Asif Iqbal Jewel’s ‘Chokh’, Dipankar Dipon’s ‘Operation Sundarban’, Saif Chandan’s ‘Ostad’, Nader Chowdhury’s ‘Jinn’, Iftekar Shuvo’s ‘Mukhosh’ and Mostafizur Rahman Manik’s ‘Ashirbad’, which are delayed by the existing pandemic situation.
