Director Anarya Murshid is going to make a short film titled ‘BTS Girl’ for the teenagers of Bangladesh. After rehearsing for the last one month, the demo shooting of the film ended on Thursday, the director of the film informed.

Noted playwright Mamunur Rashid is the acting director of the film. Produced by Cinehaat and Motion Bangla, Ujan is the film’s partner.

“Although the name of this film is ‘BTS Girl’, the subject of the film is not BTS (a popular South Korean band). BTS comes in as the object here. The lead character in the film appears to be neither a child nor a teenager, again it represents both. She never understands what BTS is. But she can feel the various human qualities that BTS has. Even the mother of a teenager born a few decades ago can understand her mistakes. The film seeks to find answers to what can happen in our lives because of domination and cultural crisis, and what can be the solutions,” director Anarya Murshid told The Business Post about the plot of the short film,

“Teenagers as well as adults are working in this film. They are all new to the movie. Since this is my first narrative film, I’m making a demo of a part of the film first. We hope to release the film in early 2022,” he added.

“Children and teenagers also have an independent mind. We often impose many things on them without knowing or understanding,” Anarya said.

Naila Tazwar Spheyeta will play the main character in ‘BTS Girl’. Mujibur Rahman Khan is in charge of DOP and filming, while Rabiul Islam Shashi is the sound director. Kazi Alim-uz-Zaman wrote a song for the film and Laila Ferdouse is working as a production designer and editor.

‘BTS Girl’ producer Shajedul Azad said about the purpose of making the film, “It goes without saying that films are not being made for children and teenagers in our country. It may seem unprofitable to many, but children and teenagers are the major consumers of the visual content. I think it is possible to make a profit here too. Even if it is not profitable, someone should do the work”.
