Moushumi recalls Salman Shah on his death anniversary

Today marks the 25th death anniversary of the iconic hero of the country’s film industry, Salman Shah. At the age of 24 years, he passed away on this day in 1996. With only 27 films in four-year career, Salman Shah made a tremendous impact on the country’s film industry as well as successfully created a vast fan base with his stellar performance on the big screen.

Salman’s debut film with Moushumi was an instant hit which won the hearts of millions of viewers soon after its release. The duo’s maiden film ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ has always been considered to be one of the most successful ventures in the country’s film industry. Emerging as the newest pair in their time, Salman and Moushumi continue to conquer the realm of cinema, while the filmmakers found a pair to explore the new horizon of the silver screen.

After Sohanur Rahman Sohan’s ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’ in 1993, Moushumi and Salman Shah came up with three more hit films -- ‘Antore Antore’ and ‘Sneho’ in 1994, and the duo’s last film ‘Denmohor’ in 1995.

Being a childhood friend of Salman Shah and the first heroine of the late actor, popular actress Moushumi had always shared a wonderful relationship with Salman Shah. Moushumi always remained grateful to Salman Shah for his contribution to her film career.

“He was not just the hero of my debut film, he was my childhood friend. Though we had shared a good relationship since childhood, our friendship renewed with Sohanur Rahman’s Sohan’s ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat after a break in the middle. The film brought recognition and pride for both of us. I cherish this achievement forever. Everyone involved in our film industry remembers Salman Shah on the day of his demise, so I do as a close friend and co-artiste. His memory always makes me nostalgic,” Moushumi told The Business Post remembering her first hero on the occasion of his death anniversary.   

“Though I acted with Salman Shah in only four films, he was my real friend in the industry. Even after so many years today, it’s not possible to forget him. I will never forget him. I am grateful to Salman Shah for his contribution to my film career. I always miss him,” the actress added.  

In his short film career, Salman Shah acted in many popular films, including: ‘Keyamat Thekey Keyamat’, ‘Antorey Antorey’, ‘Bikkhov’, ‘Denmohor’, ‘Bichar Hobe’, ‘Ei ghor ei Shongshar’, ‘Jibon Shongshar’, ‘Chaowa Theke Paowa’, ‘Anondo Osru’.
