Porshi to judge reality show ‘Young Star’

Having enthralled the audience with her delicate voice over the past few years, young singer Sabrina Porshi is all set to play her role as a judge at the Rtv’s brand-new music reality show ‘Young Star’.

Porshi will co-judging the show with musicians Ibrar Tipu and Protic Hasan in the panel, according to a release issued by Rtv on Wednesday. The organisers said the reality show aims at young talents with the slogan ‘Gola Chere Gao’.

As ‘Young Star’ marks Porshi’s first-ever collaboration in a reality show as a judge, the singer is very excited to be a part of it. She herself started her music career from a reality show organised by a private TV channel in 2008.

Porshi said about her involvement as a judge in the reality show, “I myself came up from a reality show. I had sung from the stage then. This time, I will sit on the judge’s bench and listen to the contestants’ songs. When a contestant comes to sing on stage, many things, including dreams and fears, work through his/her head. I went through the same experience.”

“Once Kumar Biswajit sir told me, ‘You too will be a judge one day’. Now sir’s words are going to come true. I am very happy about this show. I hope I can bring up some good artists using my utmost talent and hard work,” added Porshi, expressing her gratitude to Rtv CEO Syed Ashiq Rahman and head of programmes Dewan Shasmur Rakib for her involvement in the event.

The registration process for the musical reality show ‘Young Star’, produced by Sohag Masood, will begin on September 10. Interested ones aged between 12 to 22 years can participate in this talent hunt.

For registration, the contestants will have to submit any Bangla song sung either without music or with the use of any musical instrument. They will have to record a video of the performance on a mobile phone and upload it to ‘Rtv Plus’ app. Necessary information will also have to be filled while dropping the entity on the app, said the release.

Sabrina Porshi, who began her music career after winning the 2nd runner-up prize at Channel i’s talent hunt competition ‘Khude Gaanraj’ back in 2008, recently recreated the song ‘Sathi Tumi Amar Jibone’ from the 1996 movie ‘Chaowa Theke Paowa’ paying tribute to late Dhallywood actor Salman Shah on his 25th death anniversary.
