Gunnin: Selim to announce replacement for Faria soon

Popular director Giasuddin Selim is going to announce the replacement of film actress Nusraat Faria who left the upcoming web film ‘Gunnin’ nearly twenty days after signing her contract due to schedule complications. 

Giasuddin Selim confirmed the matter to The Business Post and said, “Faria scrapped her deal for ‘Gunnin’ due to schedule complications,” on Friday.    

The director further said, “We had to delay our shooting for a week because Shariful Razz, another lead cast of the web film got injured in a road accident. Due to the delay, Faria couldn’t match her shooting schedule with ‘Gunnin’.  As a result, we decided to cancel the agreement jointly”.

‘Gunnin’ is adapted from a short story written by renowned writer Hasan Azizul Haque. The script and dialogue of the web film are written by director Selim. The shooting of ‘Gunin’ is expected to start in October. 

Selim further added that the most important character in ‘Gunnin’ is Rabeya, which was supposed to be played by Faria. 

As ‘Gunnin’ is scheduled to go on floors next month, meanwhile, speculations were doing rounds that Pori Moni might be signed for the character Rabeya. 

When director Selim was asked about this, he said, “Names of several actresses came to mind that is suitable for the character. But I don’t want to reveal anything about it now. Hopefully, I will announce the lead actress in two or three days.” 

While asking the director what kind of artist Selim was searching for, he said: “As the story of ‘Gunnin’ is in the backdrop of 70s, I need someone who can portray the look of a conservative Muslim woman of that time. I need an actress who is comfortable with a no-makeup look and has good acting skills. I want someone to portray the character as it is”. 

He also added that “At that time women used to be very simple; they were not used to wash their hair with shampoo regularly. So, I want such an actress who can pull off the no-makeup look or feel comfortable with not washing her hair with shampoo before shooting.” 

The cast of ‘Gunnin’ includes Iresh Zaker, Mostofa Monwar and Azad Abul Kalam in various roles. Nayla Azad Nupur, Dilara Zaman and Shilpi Sarker are also expected to join them in the web film. 

‘Gunnin’ is slated for an OTT release but its makers earlier said that they can also release it in theatres prior to releasing digitally.
