Actress Zakia Bari Mamo is joining hands with director Khijir Hayat Khan for his upcoming war film titled ‘Ora 7 Jon’, where she will play the central lead character named Aporna Sen.
Mamo, along with nine other artistes including Intekhab Dinar and Imtiaz Barshon, signed up for the project recently.
Talking to The Business Post on Saturday, Mamo said, “This is going to be my first-ever Liberation War-based film. It feels good to be a part of such a story that revolves around the Liberation War, and also being with the efforts for the country.”
As ‘Ora 7 Jon’ marks Mamo’s first collaboration with director Khijir Hayat Khan, she said about the director, “His preparation and expressions have influenced me to a great extent. I am feeling good to work with him.”
While asked about her expectation about the war film, she said, “Overall, I liked the story and my role in the film, which matters first in fact.”
Earlier, taking to his social media handle, the director shared a series of photos with the artistes on September 17. “Heading to the war along with this troop. More to come.. Keep us in prayers,” Khijir captioned the photo as he is looking forward to kickstart the film from September 27.
Regarding the role of Mamo in the film, Khijir told The Business Post, “She is the central lead. She is doing a very important role.”
“She is also playing sort of a freedom fighter’s role, but in a different angle,” said Khijir, who will also play a lead character in the film.
According to the director, actor Imtiaz Barshon will also play an essential character in the film where he will appear as a muezzin-turned-freedom fighter.
Saif Khan, Hamidur Rahman, Nafis Ahmed, Joy Raj, Shahriar Ferdous Sazeeb, Shiba Shanu, Tasnim Tasfi and Khalid Mahbub Turjo also have been roped in for ‘Ora 7 Jon’.
The film will be shot in Jaintapur area of Sylhet which was under Sector 5 during the Liberation War against erstwhile West Pakistan.
