Nuhash’s ‘Moving Bangladesh’ selected for Tokyo International Film Festival

Nuhash Humayun’s directorial debut feature film titled ‘Moving Bangladesh’ has been selected for the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival under the Tokyo Gap Financing Market (TGFM) section. This is the only film from Bangladesh among the 14 films to feature in the festival this year.

Tokyo International Film Festival is one of the prestigious film festivals in Asia.

The films accepted for the TGFM are in the making and will be partially supported by the festival. This year, 20 projects were selected, including 14 full-length feature films, three animation features, one television series, and two animated television series.

This time a total of 98 projects from 53 countries were submitted for the TGFM competition. 20 projects were selected for financing. Besides, preparations are being taken to invite the directors and producers of these films to Tokyo during the festival. These producers will be given the opportunity to interact with film personalities during the festival to find potential markets for their film.

This year, the 34th Tokyo International Film Festival will start on October 30 and continue to November 8. In keeping with this event, TGFM will be held from November 1 to 3.

Applicants have to meet certain conditions while submitting the project for TGFM. Under these conditions, 60 per cent of the total cost of the project has already been confirmed and it is vital to have a touch of Asia in the film or television series which are in the making.

The film ‘Moving Bangladesh’ is based on the true story of a group of students who are tired of being stuck in traffic and life and decide to create Pathao, an app that will make a huge difference in the lives of the people for the better.

The film is produced by Gupi Bagha Production. Nuhash Humayun and the producers are being invited to join the main festival in Tokyo.

Earlier, the film was also invited to Marché du in the Cannes film festival.
