Second show of ‘Janaker Mrityu Nei’ to be staged on October 1

‘Janaker Mrityu Nei’, a play based on the struggling life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will stage its second show on October 1 at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital.

Written by Abdul Halim Aziz, the play is directed by Soron Kumar Saha.

Aniket Pal has done the choreography for the play with background music jointly prepared by Shoeb Hasnat Mitul and Sheikh Akash.

Marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence, various types of theatre plays based on Bangabandhu’s eventful life are being staged across the country under the supervision of District Shilpakala Academy. As a part of this initiative, ‘Janaker Mrityu Nei’ has been produced by District Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka and patronised by BSA.

The play sheds light on the various aspects of Bangabandhu’s struggling life from his ‘The Unfinished Memoirs’. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the architect of Bangladesh’s independence. Bangabandhu is the greatest hero of the oppressed people who brought them freedom. Under his fearless leadership, Bengalis hoist the red-green flag breaking the chain of oppression.

Director Soron Kumar Saha said about the play, “‘Janaker Mrityu Nei’ depicts various subjects from the life of greatest-ever Bengali of thousand years and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, including his sacrifice for the nation, Bangladesh’s Liberation War, the brutal killings of August 15 and Indemnity Ordinance. I believe that the new generation will come to know Bangabandhu afresh through this play.”

The different characters of the play include Azim Uddin, Rafiqul Islam, Sajib Ghosh, Bidhan Biswas, Arif Farhan Khan, Pallab Sarker, Sheikh Firoz, Shraban Sutradhar, Sheya Saha and Ashrafuneesa Barsha.
